First Week of School
This is Forming Week. We are in the process of creating a safe, nurturing, and healthy learning environment. This serves as the foundation for all that is to come this academic school year. Students are learning school procedure, classroom rules, and proper decorum. All students have been given student surveys and contact sheets. Parents please ask your children about these forms:
1. The student survey is for me to learn more about each student..
2. The student contact form is for me to have up to date contact information for every parent.
There is academic learning occurring this week as well.
In my class we have begun our units on vocabulary and grammar. All students have been given vocabulary words. They are expected to have looked up their definitions by Monday. It's homework.
Additionally, all students have been given out worksheets relating to their vocabulary words. It's homework due on Monday.
9-13 thru 9-17
Scantron testing will be done. This test sets a baseline for student learning. Each student must make one year of growth from this these test scores or they will be retained/fail (Refer to your Parent Handbook).
Also, journal writing begins on 9-13-2010
Each student is expected to write on 3 different topics: something that has occurred in school, something that has occurred in their community, and something of their own choice. Parents ask your child to give you details about this assignment. If you have any question or comments, I can be contacted at the school
