Grade 7 Social Studies: World History
Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies!
This year we will continue to explore the world in which we live. We will be working on mastering geography skills, learning about how history is recorded and tracing World History from the very beginnings of man. We will be exploring history through many hands-on projects, web exercises, and cooperative learning experiences. Our first unit will begin with examining the basics of culture and some of the earliest societies on earth.
CURRENT UNIT: Africa!! (Nov. 15-Dec. 17)
2nd Hour: A brief tour of the Continent by region--we are studying a handful of countries in the North, West, South and East to get a picture of the DIVERSITY found in Africa.
Projects due: Dec. 10
Unit Test: Dec. 16
3rd Hour: Africa through the lens of current issues and social challenges.
Country Reports/Poster Presentations due: Dec. 10

Grade 8 Social Studies: American History
Welcome to 8th Grad Social Studies!
This year we will continue the learning that we began in 5th grade. We will learn about The Constitution, the War of 1812, the expansion of our country westward, the Antebellum period, the Civil War and the period of Reconstruction following the war. Each unit will rely heavily on cooperative work, developing strong reading and writing skills, and the creation of Power Point presentations to examine the causes of the Civil War. Our learning will begin with a unit review examining the lives of Native Americans in North America.
